Adani Enterprise Ltd-run Adani Power Ltd (APL) on Thursday said the company has synchronised the country's first supercritical unit of 660-MW power plant at Mundra in Kutch, Gujarat, after commissioning four units of 330 MW each. The company will commission four more units of 660 MW each by March 2012, which will make the 4,620-MW Mundra plant the country's largest coal-fired single location plant.

"With synchronisation of this unit, APL's coal fired thermal generation capacity stands at 1,980 MW, making it the third-largest power generating company in the private sector. This 660-MW unit is the world's first supercritical technology-based project to be certified for carbon credit," said Gautam Adani, chairman, Adani group.

APL is also implementing a 1000-KM high-voltage double circuit transmission line connecting Mundra power station to northern India, which is set to be commissioned by March 2011. "It is the country's first private sector developed high voltage transmission line," Adani said.

"At present, various projects with a total capacity of 16,500 MW are under implementation and will be completed by 2015," he said.
