Sensex closes 187 points higher

A benchmark index for Indian equities markets on Thursday closed 187 points higher while broader indices ended on a lacklustre note. The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also closed in the green at 5,323.8 points, up 0.86 %.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,526.92 points, closed at 17,737.89 points (provisional), up 187.26 points or 1.07 % from its previous close at 17,550.63 points.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also closed in the green at 5,323.8 points, up 0.86 %.

Broader markets closed on a dull note with the BSE midcap index ending flat and the BSE smallcap index down 0.25 %.
