Sensex rises over 1%; lenders gain
Sensex extended gains to over 1% today, a day before the expiry of the monthly derivative contracts and tracking mostly firmer global markets. Lenders including HDFC Bank and mortgage lender Housing Development Finance Corp led the gainers.

Sensex extended gains to over 1% on Wednesday, a day before the expiry of the monthly derivative contracts and tracking mostly firmer global markets.
Lenders including HDFC Bank and mortgage lender Housing Development Finance Corp led the gainers.
At 1:38pm, the BSE index was up 1% at 20,228.39 points, with 23 components advancing.
The 50-share NSE index rose almost 1% to 6,054.60.
