The defendant has 14 days to plead for review of the verdict or for a new trial.

To calculate the recommended sentence range, the court first looks to the “base offense level,” which is increased for the amount of Rajaratnam’s profits (and losses avoided) from insider trading, and then any other adjustments are made to calculate the final offense level to be applied.

If the decision to admit the wiretaps as evidence is upheld by the court, Rajaratnam will find it difficult to find other issues to overturn the convictions.
