“In partnership with HT media, we are committed to open more stations in India. We are planning to roll out our services in all major cities in the country in the next three four years," Branson told reporters at the anniversary of the tie-up.

Last year, the government had auctioned 76 FM radio frequencies spread across 21 cities as part of the second round of the roll-out of FM radio. In the first round, only 20 stations became operational.

Virgin Group had entered into FM radio segment with the launch of Fever 104 FM in partnership with its Indian partner in October last year.

"Virgin Radio has brought comprehensive technical expertise to this venture, and HT Media provides the understanding of the local market," HT Media's CEO Rajiv Verma said.
