The Fazilka police have arrested four people for kidnapping and murdering a commission agent. Suman Mutneja of Panje Ke Uthar village in Guru Har Sahai subdivision had gone missing under mysterious circumstances on Thursday and his body was recovered from Gang Canal near Jalalabad on Sunday.

On April 18, Suman was on his way home in his i20 car (PB-22K-4045) from Jalalabad around 6pm. On the way, he was kidnapped by Amandeep Singh, Davinder Singh, Pargat Singh, Sukhpal Singh, Satnam Singh and Ganga Singh,” Ferozepur inspector general (IG) of police Mukhwinder Singh Chinna said.

Later, the accused murdered Suman and threw his body into the canal after tying his hands and feet. The accused also threw his car into the canal and then they left for Rajasthan. They made ransom calls from different mobile numbers, said the IG.

The IG said a case was registered at the Jalalabad police station following a complaint by Suman’s son Abhinandan Mutneja.

Fazilka senior superintendent of police Deepak Hilori said the police have arrested four of six accused — Amandeep, Davinder Singh, Pargat Singh and Sukhpal Singh. Raids are on to nab the other accused, he added.

The police recovered the car on Saturday and Suman’s body was fished out from the canal on Sunday.

The mastermind, Amandeep, is already facing three criminal cases at various police stations while his accomplice Pargat Singh also has criminal background, said the IG.
