"A joint operation was launched in conjunction with a police party following inputs regards a cache of arms and ammunition in the higher reaches of Lapridhar," defence spokesperson Lt Col RK Palta told IANS.

He said that on a thorough search of the area security forces recovered arms concealed in a rock cave in a dense forest.

"During the search, a large quantity of arms and ammunition, including three under barrel grenade launchers (UBGL), an AK-47 magazine, three Chinese grenades, two pistol magazines, four 14.7-mm cartridges and 47 7.62-mm cartridges were recovered," said Lt. Col. Palta.

He said no arrests were made from the site as the cache was not manned at the time of the operation. A case in this regard has also been registered.
