Brother of PU observer sat for leaked LLB paper

In a fresh twist to the LLB examination paper leak inquiry on at the Panjab University (PU), it has emerged that the brother of a varsity senator also took the exam. The senator, Ajaya Ranga, has admitted that his brother appeared in the examination but refuted allegations that he was the observer at the same centre.

On being asked whether he had given in writing to PU that his close relative was not appearing in the examination, Ranga said that there were no such instructions from the office of the controller of examinations.

“I was not even informed in writing that I have been appointed as an observer. I was informed telephonically,” he said.

Indian National Students Organization (INSO), a student group on the campus, brought the matter to light, but the group had also alleged that he was deputed as an observer at the same centre where his brother was taking the exam.

Controller of Examinations (CoE), Parvinder Singh was not available for comments.

The paper was conducted on June 9 and the rumours of paper leak started doing the rounds even before its completion.

The next day PU formed a panel headed by Dean University Instructions (DUI) AK Bhandari to probe the allegations levelled by some student groups.

On June 30, the probe panel concluded that paper got leaked.
