Chandigarh Police claim decline in crime incidents
The Chandigarh police claimed to have controlled and minimised the crime incidents in the city in February with effective check posts and patrolling.
Releasing the crime data, the police claimed 14% decrease in crime incidents this month compared to number of incidents in last February.
The police also claimed that murder, attempt to murder and rape cases had declined this month. This year, only five incidents under the crime heads were reported against 14 in 2013.
On the other hand, keeping a tab on the menace of use of drugs among youngsters, city police claimed to have arrested the drug peddlers and recovered the drugs from their possession.
The number of registered cases under the Excise Act and NDPS Act have increased this month as compared to February last year.
As per the data, seven cases under the NDPS Act and 23 cases under the Excise Act were registered in 2013 as against 17 cases under the NDPS Act and 49 cases under the Excise Act in February this year.
Apart from this, the official of Chandigarh traffic police have also claimed that this year, accidents in the first two months, have decreased as compared to the accidents that took place in the first two months of 2013.
The data also indicated that in 2013, in the first two months, total 64 accidents took place while this year, it reduced to 56 which include 15 fatal and 41 non-fatal accidents.
