The case was reported on Monday when a 15-year-old girl approached the police alleging that her father was sexually assaulting her and her nine-year-old sister for more than three years. A case was registered and the father was arrested from a village in this district.
However, a press release issued by the superintendent of police on Tuesday evening, mentioned the name of the accused.
Recent National Commission for Women guidelines state that it is illegal to divulge information that might reveal the identity of the victim(s).
Local SP Shashank Anand was unavailable for comment.
The press note claimed that the victims were counselled by a woman advocate and a policewoman. The minor victims were sent to the local Bal Bhawan.
