High drama at P’kula hospital: Gangster threatens victims, held

High drama was witnessed at the emergency ward of the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, late on Saturday evening when the police nabbed a person who had allegedly come to threaten some persons.

High drama was witnessed at the emergency ward of the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, late on Saturday evening when the police nabbed a person who had allegedly come to threaten some persons.

The victims said that the accused wanted to threaten them before getting their statements recorded by the police in connection with an assault case.

The police said, “Pappu, a gangster, extorts money from some residents of Indira Colony. He attacked Krishna and Mithlesh with a knife when they didn’t agree to pay him weekly installments.”

Both were taken to the hospital and their statements were about to be recorded when Pappu reached there. He threatened them with dire consequences in case they name him in the case. At the same time, a police party led by ASI Surjeet Singh from Sector 16 police post reached. When the police tried to nab Pappu, he attacked the cops and also hurled abuses, the police said.

More police force was called from Sector 14 police station, following which the accused, who was allegedly drunk, was nabbed.

The cops thrashed him in full public view. According to the police, Papu was a proclaimed offender in a robbery case. Mithlesh and Krishna have sustained injuries on head and back.

Sector 14 station house officer (SHO), Inspector Kamaljeet Singh, said Pappu was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt .
