Land acquisition scam: CBI seizes files from DC's office

Following the probe ordered by Punjab and Haryana high court into the alleged land acquisition scam in Bathinda's Mandi Khurad village, officials of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday started investigations into the case.

Following the probe ordered by Punjab and Haryana high court into the alleged land acquisition scam in Bathinda's Mandi Khurad village, officials of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday started investigations into the case.


The team visited the offices of deputy commissioner and Bathinda municipal corporation and seized some files for further investigation.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on August 8, had ordered an inquiry into the land acquisition scam that allegedly benefited businessmen close to the ruling party.

A three member team of CBI officials arrived at Bathinda in the morning and stared inquiry from various concerned officials. They left in the evening after taking some files from the office of deputy commissioner and municipal corporation.

The division bench of acting chief justice Jasbir Singh and justice TS Dhindsa had ordered the CBI to complete the probe within a month. The next hearing of the case will be held on September 12.
