Even though she died a lonely death having snapped all ties with her friends and family, for the former assistant advocate general Anuradha Bali alias Fiza the memories of her "happy" times were most valuable. The police had, on Thursday, recovered seven CDs from the safe of an almirah at her house. The police scanned the CDs, which, according to them, are collection of her happier times.
"We have scanned the CDs recovered from her safe and they contain pictures and videos of family functions and her photographs with Chander Mohan, the former deputy chief minister of Haryana. Nothing objectionable has been found so far," said Swarndeep Singh, SP (city), SAS Nagar.
The forensic team that searched the house of Fiza for clues leading to her "mysterious" death has also reportedly not found anything objectionable. The police found three mobile phones as well as a laptop from the house. Police sources revealed that the three mobile phones had blank sim cards and their condition reflected low use. The laptop, however, is absolutely new.
Had four accounts
As per sources, Fiza had an account in State Bank of Patiala's Punjab and Haryana high court branch. This account has an FD connected to it. Apart from this, she had three accounts in SBI's district courts and sector 30 branches and a loan account in the sector 23 branch of State Bank of India from which her Honda CRV was loaned.
Recovered money to go to treasury
Following the recovery of Rs 92,86,160 in cash along with 1.5kg gold in form of jewellery and biscuits besides 800gm silver jewellery, police have sought permission from the court to get the same deposited in the state treasury. The police are probing the cash source, even though Fiza's close friend Rohit Mahajan had claimed that the money was part of the fund collected for the party when Fiza was married to Chander Mohan.
Fiza's car found abandoned in Ambala
The local police recovered an abandoned Scorpio car lying abandoned at Jarot road close to Ambala City under Baldev Nagar police station. This vehicle, found on Thursday, has been traced to have been in possession of Fiza before her death.
Both the number plates of the car were found missing and headlights were broken, while the rear tyre of the car was deflated. According to police, a preliminary inquiry indicated that the car belonged to a Chandigarh-based high court lawyer Dalip Mahajan who had given it to Fiza for some months. A slip bearing Anuradha's name was also recovered from the vehicle.
Baldev Nagar police station SHO Pawan Kumar said the police were trying to trace the person who abandoned the car here. He said the owner of the car had visited the police station and claimed that he had filed a complaint with the Chandigarh police in this regard. “We have informed our counterparts in Mohali, who are investigating the circumstances leading to the death of Fiza,” the SHO added.
