Punjab: Rs 473 cr released to 8,033 farmers
The Punjab government has made online payments to the tune of Rs 473.54 crore to farmers against the purchase of their crop by various procurement agencies during the ongoing paddy procurement in the state. The payment has been made in accordance with the guidelines fixed by the central government.

Stating this here on Monday a government spokesman said the process of releasing payments had been streamlined, adding that online payments were being released daily by the government.
Meanwhile, 31 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured till Sunday evening. Of the total paddy procured, 29.9 tonnes (96.5%) was procured by the government agencies, while private agencies procured 1.09 lakh tonnes (3.5%).
Giving details of the district-wise paddy procurement, the spokesman said Kapurthala was on top with 3 lakh tones, followed by Jalandhar (2.9 lakh tonnes) and Faridkot (2.73 lakh tonnes) till October 19.
