Two air force officers from regionget Param Vishisht Seva Medal

Ludhiana resident Air Marshal Daljit Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Command, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, was conferred the Param Vishisht Seva Medal by the President on January 26 for his meritorious service to the nation. He is also the recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Vayu Sena Medal.

Mohali resident Air Marshal Jasvinder Chauhan, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command, Allahabad, was conferred the Param Vishit Seva Medal by the President on January 26 for his meritorious service to the nation. He is also the recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishishit Seva Medal. He has been an honorary Air ADC (aide-de-camp) to the President since July 2013.



Daljit Singh was commissioned in the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in June 1976. A former National Defence Academy officer, he has flown more than 3,500 hours on various aircraft, including Gnats, Ajeets, MiG-21s, SU-30 MKI and Mirage-2000. He is a qualified flying instructor and a graduate of the Defence Service Staff College, Wellington (Tamil Nadu).

The air officer, during his service career of 37 years in the Indian Air Force (IAF), has held prestigious operational appointment of the command of the fighter squadron and the fighter base, staff appointments in the IAF and diplomatic assignment abroad as defence attaché to Thailand from May 2003 to March 2006. Prior to taking over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command, on March 1, 2013, he was the Director General, Air Operations, at the Air headquarters, looking after operational aspects of the IAF. He has presented a number of IAF papers at international and national seminars.

Daljit Singh studied at KVM School, Ludhiana, and Government College, Ludhiana, before joining the IAF.
