AAP worker shot at in Punjab’s Phagwara

The Phagwara police said the assailants had used a countrymade weapon, and one bullet hit Vipin Kumar in his back

An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker was injured after being shot at by two unidentified assailants on the national highway at Phagwara in Kapurthala district on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Vipin Kumar, aka Gora, a resident of Hardaspur area in Phagwara. He was moving in his car when two bike-borne men opened fire at him and fled, said police. Kumar was rushed to the local civil hospital, from where he was referred to Jalandhar owing to a “deep bullet injury”.

Police said the assailants had used a countrymade weapon, and one bullet hit Kumar in his back. Police have registered a case and initiated investigation to identify and trace the shooters.
