Alert onlookers catch two snatchers fleeing with phone in Chandigarh

A chase ensued after the accused snatched the Chandigarh resident’s phone; victim, with the help of onlookers, managed to nab the accused, who were handed over to the police.

Two motorcycle-borne snatchers who were fleeing with a cyclist’s mobile phone were caught by onlookers near the Sector 27/28/29/30 chowk on Saturday night.

The victim, Aakash Yadav, a resident of Sector 49-C, was on his way, when the accused snatched his mobile phone and tried to flee.

A chase ensued and Yadav with the help of onlookers managed to nab the accused, who were handed over to the police.

The duo was identified as Dalbir Singh, alias Gullu, of Burail village and Mohinder of Madrasi Colony, Jagatpura village, Mohali.

They were booked under Sections 379-A (snatching), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code.
