Chandigarh Housing Board recovered ₹34 lakh in demotion costs in three years
Out of ₹38,93,119 raised, ₹34,06,696 had paid by the allottees and ₹4,86,423 is yet to be paid, Chandigarh Housing Board CEO said
The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), in the last three years, has recovered more than ₹34 lakh as the cost of demolition from violators putting up illegal structures.
Sharing the information, CHB chief executive officer Yashpal Garg said the board has demolished 277 unauthorised constructions and recovered the cost of demolitions from the allottees.
Out of ₹38,93,119 raised, ₹34,06,696 had paid by the allottees and ₹4,86,423 is yet to be paid, he said, adding that in case of non-payment, the violators’ allotments are liable to be cancelled.

Elaborating, he said, “All allottees who have been issued challans/demolition notices against the fresh constructions are required to remove the violations immediately to avoid demolition by the CHB.”
The cost of demolition includes the labour cost and their food charges, the salary of CHB staff deployed for duty, cost of machinery deployed and transportation charges on actual basis.
