High court restrains Haryana govt from carrying out demolitions in Nuh

The high court bench presided over by justice GS Sandhawalia took suo motu cognisance of the issue and asked the Haryana government not to carry out demolition till further orders.

The high court bench presided over by justice GS Sandhawalia took suo motu cognisance of the issue and asked the government not to carry out demolition till further orders.

Order on initiation of suo motu proceedings and restraint order is yet to be released. The matter is to be taken up again at 2 pm.

The Nuh administration had started a demolition drive in the violence-hit district last week. They have demolished more than 750 buildings since the drive began. Officials on Sunday said they had demolished houses, shops and illegal structures in Nuh that were built on government land and were used by suspects involved in the communal clashes.
