Hooda alleges ‘authoritarianism’ by BJP during monsoon session

The Congress leader said BJP only lied and misled the House throughout the session. “The government failed to provide clear answers to the Opposition’s questions,” he alleged

Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday reiterated his anguish at the alleged authoritarian attitude displayed by the BJP government towards Congress MLAs during the monsoon session of the state assembly.

In a statement, the Leader of Opposition said he had never witnessed this kind of mistreatment and it will be recorded as a dark chapter in the history of the Haryana legislative assembly. Hooda was referring to the alleged manhandling of Congress MLAs by Chandigarh police inside assembly precincts.

“Not only MLAs, staging peaceful protests, were manhandled but they were not even informed on whose orders such action was being taken,” Hooda alleged,

The former CM said a noted strike by contractual employees was underway across the state. “But the government was ignoring the sanitation workers’ demands, resulting in piles of garbage getting accumulated throughout the state. We demand that a proposal to regularise these employees be introduced in the legislative assembly and despite being in the opposition, we will support it,’’ he said.
