Hooda to hold show of strength rally in Kurukshetra today

After the Congress performed badly in the five states’ assembly polls, results of which were announced on March 10, Haryana leader of Opposition and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is all set to hold a show of strength rally as part of the Opposition’s ‘Vipaksh Aapke Samaksh’ programme in Kurukshetra on Sunday.
Rajya Sabha MP and Hooda’s son, Deepender Singh Hooda on Saturday held party workers’ meetings in Rohtak, Meham, Kalanaur and Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi constituencies and directed the workers to reach Kurukshetra on Sunday in large numbers to make the rally a success.
More than two dozen Congress MLAs, former ministers, ex-MLAs, former MPs and senior leaders are expected to attend the programme. Deepender said people of Haryana are getting rid of the BJP-JJP government and want to change the rule.
“There will be no impact of five states’ results in 2024 when Haryana goes for voting. Government employees are seeking restoration of the old-pension scheme and the Congress government has implemented it in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. If the BJP government fails to implement it in Haryana, we will implement it after coming to power,” he said.
“Haryana has become number one in country in crime and unemployment. So, people want change. This government has failed to create good infrastructure – open new schools, hospitals, colleges and universities. Youths are struggling to get jobs and jobs are being sold at high prices openly in the state,” he added.
Hooda urged the Congress workers to strengthen the organisation at grassroots level and asked them to get ready to face tough challenges.
A Congress MLA, who is close to former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, said the recent poll outcomes show that the grand-old party did not have a popular leader, who has a state-wide appeal.
“Bhupinder Singh Hooda is the only leader in Haryana Congress who has state-wide appeal. It is time to give a free hand to Hooda so that the Congress can uproot the BJP-JJP government. If it is delayed, results of the 2019 assembly polls will be repeated. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to spread its wings in Haryana and only Hooda is the leader who can defend the party. We will show our strength by holding ‘Vipaksh Aapke Samaksh’ programmes in every district,” the MLA added.
Rohtak-based political commentator Satish Tyagi said the Hooda camp will mount pressure on the central leadership to change a guard in Haryana and it reflects that his camp will launch an aggressive campaign in and outside the party.
‘Oust G-23 leaders from Congress’
Meanwhile, Congress leaders and former ministers Krishan Murti Hooda and Subhash Batra alleged that the G-23 leaders are working to weaken the Congress party and demanded to oust them from the party.
“Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda is acting like a B-team of the BJP in Haryana and has weakened the Congress. The Congress high command should take strict action against him. We will take time from Congress president Sonia Gandhi and MP Rahul Gandhi to apprise them of Hooda’s role in Haryana,” they said in a press conference.
