Ludhiana: Conduct surprise inspections at commercial units, fire officials told

To tighten the noose around industrial, business establishments and coaching centres in the city functioning without the fire no objection certificate (NOC), the municipal corporation authorities on Tuesday directed the fire department officials to initiate surprise inspections to check violations.

Municipal corporation commissioner Shena Aggarwal issued the orders to fire department officials to ensure that required safety equipment is installed in the buildings and take strict action against the violators.
She also appealed to the residents to obtain a fire safety NOC from the fire brigade and asked them to apply for a fire safety NOC online at firenoc.lgpunjab.gov.in.
She said that fire incidents have been reported in the past and this can be avoided if the residents follow the norms, install required fire safety equipment and obtain fire safety NOC from the department.
She further said that inspections would be conducted by the fire brigade to ensure the safety of the residents.
She said that concerned officials of the civic body and the fire brigade have also been directed to act against the violators as per the norms.
