Ludhiana | Former DJ operator held with 900g heroin

The accused, a former DJ, has been allegedly peddling drugs for eight years, and has been facing trial in five cases, the Ludhiana police said

The accused, Pritpal Singh of Moga, has been allegedly peddling drugs for eight years, and has been facing trial in five cases. A proclaimed offender, Pritpal Singh, had been released on bail from Ludhiana Central Jail 9 months ago.

“Acting on a tip off, the accused was arrested at a checkpoint on ATI Road in Janta Nagar while he was on his way to deliver a consignment,” STF Ludhiana in-charge inspector Harbans Singh said. A case was registered under sections of the NDPS Act.

“The accused used to perform at wedding parties, but turned to drug peddling after incurring losses. He would procure heroin from different people in Moga and Ferozepur, and deliver the contraband on the buyers’ doorsteps,” the inspector said, adding that he would travel in passenger buses to avoid the police.

He was sent to two-day remand on Monday.
