A 57-year-old man died after a Punjab Roadways bus hit his motorcycle at Bansa Wali Chungi in Kharar. The victim has been identified as Major Singh.

The incident took place on April 26 around 4 pm. The complainant Ravinder Kaur, wife of the victim, alleged that she and Singh had reached the Bansa Wali Chungi on a motorcycle. After dropping her, Singh was turning towards Sunny Enclave when the Punjab Roadways bus bearing number PB08EW1198 struck the vehicle.
Police said due to the impact, the victim came under the front tyre of the bus. The driver fled from the spot after the accident, leaving the bus behind.
The injured was taken to Kharar civil hospital, from where he was referred to Phase 6 civil hospital in Mohali, and later to PGIMER Chandigarh. He underwent surgery but did not regain consciousness and died during the treatment on Friday .
A case has been registered at Kharar city police station on Saturday under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash driving and causing death by negligence. Police said they are identifying and tracing the driver.
