One held for snatching purse from NRI woman in Sangrur

: Local police on Sunday arrested one of the two accused for allegedly snatching a purse from a middle-aged NRI woman in Sangrur.
The duo was on a two-wheeler, came from behind and snatched the purse from Usha Rani when she along with her sister was returning home from shopping on Saturday evening.
The arrested accused has been identified as Karamjit Singh of Dirba, while Jashan Singh of Janal village of Sunam was still absconding.
Inspector Sukhdev Singh, SHO of city Sunam police station, said the victim was an NRI and she came to Sunam to meet her sister.
The purse contained ₹ 50,000, a mobile phone, gold earrings and a silver anklet. The victim received injuries on her face and jaws as she fell down on the road while trying to foil the snatching attempt.
The entire incident was captured in a CCTV camera and the video of the crime has also gone viral on social media. Police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of Suraj Chopra, relative of the victim.
