A two-day pottery workshop was also organised for aspiring art learners of the tricity area. The medium for this workshop was terracotta and clay.

“Tulsi Ram, an eminent sculptor and teacher was the resource person for the pottery workshop while three young printmakers of the region, Abhishek Tiwari, Sunaina Bhagat, and Amit Kumar, were the resource persons for the printmaking workshop,” says CLKA chairperson Bheem Malhotra.

Around 30 young and senior learners and art lovers from tricity registered for the pottery workshop and 25 for printmaking. Participation certificates were given to them at the concluding ceremony, says Malhotra.

Printmaking trainer Sunaina says, “There were many first-time participants and it was a great learning experience for us as well. The attendees were quite inquisitive. I talked to them about lino and woodcut techniques, LP ink, transferring the art to cloth, etc. They managed to create their own layouts and helped each other out, which was heart-warming.”

Another trainer Abhishek Tiwari says that he completed his Masters in from Government College of Art, Sector 10 just two years back. “To be given this opportunity to train others so soon after my own training was very encouraging. I taught the participants about lino cut. I also spoke to them about the ever evolving nature of art and how, with time, its meaning keeps changing for an artist,” he says, adding, “For instance, at this moment, for me, art is a responsibility. It is a medium to create awareness. A way to show the mirror to the society and let them be the judge of whether their actions are right or wrong.”
