She secured 78,273 votes while her nearest rival Ranjeet Singh Gill of Shiromani Akali Dal got 40,388 votes. Congress candidate Vijay Sharma Tinku polled only 25,291 votes. The seat was being keenly watched, as it is considered the home turf of Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

A first-timer, 31-year-old Mann is a Punjabi singer and has won various prizes in folk singing and dance at the national and global levels.

On the two other seats of Mohali district, AAP was leading on both seats till the filing of the report. Former mayor and richest candidate in the state, Kulwant Singh of AAP was leading by 29,641 votes against former Congress minister Balbir Singh Sidhu after completion of counting of 17 rounds out of total 20 rounds.

As of Dera Bassi segment, Kuljeet Singh Randhawa of AAP was leading against NK Sharma of SAD by a margin of 17,823 votes after completion of 18 rounds of total 23. Sitting MLA and Congress candidate, Deepinder Singh Dhillon has slipped to the third spot.

The counting started in Mohali main town at 8am. For all three assemblies, there are two counting centres- Sports Complex in Sector 78, for Mohali assembly, while for Kharar and Dera Bassi, the centre is Rattan Professional College in Sector 78. For Mohali segment, counting will be done in 20 rounds and for Kharar and Dera Bassi in 23 each.

On February 20, Mohali district witnessed 66.72% in all three assemblies. Dera Bassi recorded the highest turnout of 69.25%, followed by Kharar with 66.17% and turnout in Mohali reported 64.76 %. As many as 40 candidates are in fray from all three assemblies.
