The Punjab and Haryana high court has sought an affidavit from additional director general of police (ADGP prisons) on a plea from gangster Sagar alias Bobby Malhotra, who is claiming threat to his life.
The plea from Malohtra, who along with his aide Saraj Mintu are accused of providing car to shooters who allegedly killed singer Sidhu Moose Wala, was filed in September 2022 after a reported attack on him inside the Bathinda jail on July 31, 2022.
The fresh order asking for an affidavit was passed as the court was dissatisfied with the response submitted by senior superintendent of the Bathinda jail.
The plea had alleged torture by officials in the Bathinda jail, where Malohtra was shifted on March 13, 2021.
The plea alleges that he was attacked by 6-7 jail inmates on November 9, 2021, and again on July 31, 2022. He has also blamed senior officials for the attack.
