A Punjab Police constable ended his life by shooting himself in the head at a hotel in Phase 9, Industrial Area, in Mohali on Wednesday night.

The Punjab Police cop was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, by the hotel owner in his vehicle. But he was declared brought dead. (Getty images)

As per reports, the constable was in his police uniform when he took this extreme step. No suicide note was found in the hotel room.

According to the police, the constable sustained fatal bullet injury in the temple. The bullet pierced through his head, killing him on the spot. Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
