Quack arrested for running illegal clinic in Ludhiana

: The city police have arrested a fake medical practitioner for allegedly treating patients without any registration certificate and recovered drugs of 20 different brands from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Pramod Kumar, a resident of Harkrishan Vihar in Ludhiana.
The accused was operating a clinic named Public Health Clinic for over three years without fulfilling legal and medical norms. He was apprehended after a team of medical officials raided his clinic on Tuesday.
The raid was led by Puneet Juneja, senior medical officer (SMO) at Koom Kalan medical hospital. He said that the team conducted the checking after the village sarpanch complained regarding the same. He said that in the last six months, around three medical practitioners without any certificates were found treating the patients.
Juneja said that the officials sought a registration certificate and other documents from the accused, but he was unable to produce any after which they lodged a police complaint against him. He said that the accused was duping the general public by posing as a registered medical professional.
Sub-inspector Davinder Singh said that a case under section 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Meharban police station on a complaint filed by Juneja.
