Suicide bid: Woman rescued, 2 minor sons drown in Sultanpur Lodhi stream

Two minor boys drowned after their mother jumped into Kali Bein with them in a suicide bid at Sultanpur Lodhi on Wednesday afternoon.

While locals rescued the woman, the children, aged 3 and 6, could not be saved. Their bodies were fished out later, said Sultanpur Lodhi police. (iStock)

Sultanpur Lodhi SHO Harinder Singh said the children’s parents had a strained relationship. The father, a daily wage labourer, alleged that his wife picked up their sons from school and jumped into the stream.

The SHO said they were in the process of registering a case against the woman after recording statements of the family.
