Delhi govt to organise events across 70 constituencies to honour Anganwadi workers

Around 25,000 invitations are being sent for the programmes, with about 500 participants proposed in each constituency.

New Delhi: The Delhi government will organise ‘Aangan Ka Milan’ programmes across all 70 Assembly constituencies from September 23 to honour Anganwadi workers and helpers, chief minister Rekha Gupta said on Monday.

The programmes are part of the government’s month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, said officials.

Gupta said Anganwadi workers play an important role in delivering government services to children, women and families at the grassroots level. She said the government is considering increasing the honorarium of Anganwadi workers in recognition of their work and responsibilities.

Around 25,000 invitations are being sent for the programmes, with about 500 participants proposed in each constituency. The participants will include MLAs, public representatives, beneficiaries, children, pregnant and lactating women, parents, Anganwadi workers and helpers, creche workers and community representatives.

The government has also prepared a special felicitation kit worth ₹2,500 for the workers, including a bag, uniform, insulated water bottle, cap, first-aid pouch and umbrella.

Participants will also take a pledge to promote nutrition. This year’s National Nutrition Month theme is ‘Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Zimmedari’, aimed at promoting nutrition awareness and community participation, said officials.
