Delhi school gets bomb threat; after search, police say 'looks like mischief'

Panic gripped south Delhi's Sadiq Nagar on Monday after police received an bomb threat email about the Indian Public School. The school was evacuated and bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs were sent to the site. After investigation, it was found to be a hoax.

According to school officials, the email was received at 1.14 pm from an unknown address. "We immediately informed Delhi Police and a bomb disposal squad (BDS) and a dog squad were deputed to the school. Nothing has been found and all is safe," a spokesperson said.

Delhi Police said local officers reacted promptly. "It looks like mischief," Chandan Chowdhary, the deputy commissioner of police (south Delhi), said.

The BDS and dog squads, in addition to officers from a police station in Defence Colony, conducted a thorough search of the school premises but did not find any bomb, police stated.

The e-mail and the address from which it was sent are being investigated by a cyber team.
