Delhi receives heavy rainfall as IMD predicts more downpour today

People in Delhi-NCR woke up to a pleasant Thursday morning after heavy rainfall lashed the region. Some parts of Delhi-NCR witnessed rainfall the previous night as well.

According to IMD, light rains with overcast conditions are expected to continue for the rest of the week.

“Generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers can be expected for the rest of this week. More rainfall may occur next week,” said an IMD official.

Thursday’s maximum temperature is likely to be 36°C and minimum will be around 26°C, both one degree below normal around this time.

In the last 24 hours, the city saw an average of 0.1mm rainfall. However, some areas received more rainfall.

The maximum rainfall of 24.6mm was recorded at Ayanagar, followed by 13.8mm at Palam and 11.5mm in Gurugram.

Meanwhile, waterlogging was also reported in parts of Najafgarh, Okhla, Anand Vihar, Kanjhawala and Loni Road.

With most offices remaining shut on account of Eid-Al-Adha holiday, no major traffic bottleneck has been reported yet on Thursday morning.
