In meet with pvt schools, Sisodia to discuss state govt's flagship curricula

On Saturday, Sisodia said that the Business Blaster programme under the entrepreneurship curriculum will be extended to private schools from next year.

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia will be holding a session with private schools on Monday to explore ways in which schools can incorporate the ‘Entrepreneurship mindset’, “Happiness’, and ‘Deshbhakti’ curricula within their framework. On Saturday, Sisodia said that the Business Blaster programme under the entrepreneurship curriculum will be extended to private schools from next year.

“We started the programme with government schools but from next year, private schools will be equally involved. On March 7, we will hold discussions with many private schools on how they can participate in the Business Blaster programme,” said Sisodia.

In a letter to private schools on Wednesday, the directorate of education (DoE) said the session, with principals of private recognised unaided schools, was being organised to discuss the ‘Happiness’, ‘Entrepreneurship mindset’ and ‘Deshbhakti’ curricula introduced in Delhi government schools.

“Many schools have expressed their desire to know more about the curriculum reforms introduced in the schools run by the directorate of education...Schools see a huge potential in these new curricula in building the overall perspective and personality of the students,” said Yogesh Pal Singh, deputy director of education, private school branch of the DoE.

“This will also serve as an occasion for the Delhi government to initiate a unique culture of academic practices between directorate of education and unaided recognised private schools, which would benefit students of both schools,” said the letter.

Sudha Acharya, the chairperson of the National Progressive Schools’ Conference (NPSC), said a representative will attend the discussion. “Our school already has an entrepreneurship component in the curriculum and our students are already producing 14 products since 2014. We hope to share our experiences as well during the session,” she said.

Jyoti Arora, principal of Mount Abu Public School in Rohini, said the session will provide an opportunity to private schools to interact with government representatives and discuss various curriculum changes. “If the curricula can be implemented for the betterment of students, we will certainly consider the possibility,” said Arora.
