More Union ministers, CMs to enter poll push to drum up support for BJP
Party workers in the know of the matter said Sunday was chosen for the campaign as a large number of voters would be off from work on the weekend
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said it will hold a major outreach campaign led by 10 central leaders of the saffron party, including Anurag Thakur, Dharmendra Pradhan, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Sunday, in the run-up to the municipal election scheduled to be held on December 4.

Party workers in the know of the matter said Sunday was chosen for the campaign as a large number of voters would be off from work on the weekend.
“The BJP is going to run a massive public relations campaign for the municipal election on November 27, during which 100,000 workers of the party will reach out to more than 10 million voters in Delhi,” Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta said, adding that central leaders, including the chief ministers, MPs and MLAs of several states, will participate in this campaign.
Gupta claimed that party workers would reach out to every house in Delhi. “This programme will run from 8am to 10pm. The preparations for this programme are almost complete. The campaign is going on in a very organised manner and all candidates are getting huge support from the general public. Now the party is emphasising on corner meetings and direct public relations,” said Gupta.
Refuting allegations of inefficiency and lack of performance in the last 15 years at the MCD, the BJP said that the corporation has done a lot of work in the last five years. “We have improved more than 5,000 parks, and rejuvenated corporation schools. Four waste-to-energy plants have been set up in Delhi. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have started giving flats to slum dwellers. As many as 3,024 flats have been allotted in Govindpuri while 17,000 other flats are ready. We will speed up allotment as soon as we are back again in the corporation,” said Gupta.
The party’s electioneering plan will coincide with Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme scheduled on Sunday.
Last Sunday, the party carried out a major election campaign, including road shows at 14 places in Delhi in which many leaders including the party’s national president JP Nadda, defence minister Rajnath Singh, Assam chief minister Hemant Biswa Sarma, Khattar and others participated.
