New video of Satyendar Jain in prison to intensify AAP-BJP sparring?

The videos have been cited by the BJP to attack AAP over claims of special treatment for the Delhi minister in prison.

With just a week remaining for Delhi to vote in the civic polls, the Aam Aadmi Party-BJP sparring is expected to intensify further as new videos continue to emerge online of Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in jail. A day after a superintendent was seen meeting the AAP leader inside his prison cell, now another clip has surfaced that shows some men - wearing badges - cleaning the cell.

The video - tweeted by news agency ANI - cannot be independently verified by HT. But this may give more fodder to the BJP - ruling the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) - that has been constantly slamming the AAP over special treatment being given to Jain in prison. The Delhi minister was arrested in May in a money-laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

On Saturday, another clip showed a superintendent - suspended earlier this month - meeting Jain. Ajit Kumar was the superintendent of jail number 7, where Jain is lodged. He was suspended in November for allegedly being involved in providing “special treatment” to the Delhi minister, HT reported.

This was the latest in a series of clips that have been released ahead of the MCD polls, triggering a massive political controversy. While one of the clips shows Jain getting massage from a rape accused, another one shows him eating food, apparently ordered from outside. Not just the leaders of the BJP but many others have questioned the facilities being given to the jailed minister.

Jain received a setback on Saturday as a Delhi court refused him relief to get food inside the cell as per religious beliefs.

Meanwhile, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday hit out at the critics and said that the “BJP’s 10 videos can be compared with all the work that has been done by the AAP”, as he further stressed that Delhi will give its reply in the civic polls.
