On camera, Delhi cop dances to hit song at daughter's wedding, lands in trouble

A video shows a uniformed police officer, his wife sway to the music of a hit film song; others cheering.

A video of a uniformed Delhi Police officer dancing at an engagement ceremony - that of his daughter - in the national capital has been widely shared on social media and could well land the cop in trouble. The video also shows other uniformed police officers around him cheering him on as he (and his wife) sway to the music of a hit film song; one even throws money.

The officer in the video - Srinivas - is in-charge of the Narayana Police Station in south-west Delhi. "It was his daughter's ring ceremony. He is seen in this video with his wife. The matter is (being) further looked into," Ghanshyam Bansal, the deputy commissioner of police (Delhi West) said.

Srinivas reportedly put on his uniform despite being on leave specifically to dance to the song. Police officials seen surrounding him in the video are part of the officer's team.

There were others shown in the video who were also grooving to the song. The officer was seen dancing - he raises his hands and gyrates around his wife.

The video was criticised soon after it went viral with many saying the officer had lowered the decorum of the police uniform.
