Leisure Valley security guard assaulted by three suspects

Three suspects booked for assaulting a security guard at a park in Gurugram after he objected to their alleged misbehaviour with women.

Three suspects were booked for allegedly assaulting a private security guard of Leisure Valley park in Sector 29 on Wednesday evening after he objected to their alleged misbehaviour with women, Gurugram police said.

Police said the suspects, who are on the run, are suspected to be residents of a nearby slum.

According to investigators, the security guard Pawan Kumar (40), had spotted the suspects resorting to hooliganism in the park in the past too.

Investigators said the private agency responsible for the security of the park, had asked the guards to be more vigilant as unidentified suspects had uprooted 32 iron fences from the park boundary in March this year.

According to police, the suspects abused Kumar after which a heated argument broke out between them. They said the trio assaulted Kumar after pinning him to the ground and snatching his baton.

Investigators said Kumar managed to free himself and alerted the police control room using his mobile phone following which the three men fled after threatening him with dire consequences.

Kumar alleged that the three suspects are habitual offenders and have stalked several women inside the park in the park.

“The incident took place around 3pm on Wednesday. When I objected to their activities, they assaulted me. I have sustained bruises all over my body,” Kumar said, adding the suspects hail from a nearby slum.

On the basis of Kumar’s complaint, an FIR was registered against the three suspects under sections 34 (common intention), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at DLF police station in Sector 29 on Wednesday night, said police.

Subhash Boken, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said they have ascertained the identity of the suspects. “We will arrest them at the earliest,” he said.
