Rajasthan: Congress MLA’s son arrested in rape case

A ruling Congress lawmaker’s son has been arrested in Rajasthan for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in February 2021, a police officer said. Deepak alias Dilip Meena is the third accused to be arrested in the case.

Jitendra Solanki, a police officer, said that Deepak Meena was arrested on Tuesday following a special court’s direction and sent to judicial custody till January 13.

Solanki added that the girl lodged a rape complaint in the Dausa district, saying the accused took her to a hotel, raped her, and made an obscene video to threaten her.

The matter came to light during the probe into a complaint her family lodged of theft of some cash and jewellery from their home.

Deepak Meena’s father, Joharti Lal Meena, represents Alwar’s Rajgarh-Laxmangarg constituency in the state assembly.
