Ayodhya medical college now under KGMU telemedicine roster

Rajashri Dashrath College in Ayodhya has become the first state-run medical college in Uttar Pradesh to be connected with the telemedicine facility provided by KGMU.

Patients suffering from kidney, heart and urinary tract ailments in Ayodhya and its nearby areas can now get expert advice from specialists at King George’s Medical University without having to travel to Lucknow. KGMU has already connected over 1,000 health and wellness centres and hospitals with its telemedicine services, through which expert opinions can be shared for complicated medical cases across the state. “A roster has been shared with the college through which doctors can access our telemedicine facility and discuss cases with the experts here,” said Dr Sheetal Verma, who is coordinating the telemedicine service from KGMU.

“In telemedicine, audio and video facilities are used to share inputs of patients by the treating doctors with a higher medical centre... For one case, there can be opinion by one or more experts from different medical fields,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general of the Association of International Doctors.
