Azam Khan and his son Mohammad Abdullah Khan tested positive for Covid-19 on April 30 and were admitted to Lucknow's Medanta Hospital. The hospital authorities said on May 26 that 30-year-old Abdullah is stable and is still being observed by an expert team of doctors.
The 72-year-old leader underwent Covid-19 tests after complaining of fever and cough, RS Yadav, the jailer of Sitapur prison, said earlier. "Initially, the rapid antigen was done and later the samples were sent for the RT-PCR test, the reports of which came positive," Yadav said in a statement.
Khan, along with his son and wife Tazeen Fatma, has been in jail since February last year in connection with various cases of land grabbing, encroachment and others. In December last year, the Allahabad High Court granted bail to Tazeen Fatma in all 34 cases registered against her.
