Flag to be hoisted at all 8,777 Amrit Sarovars on R-Day

The state government has asked all districts to hoist the national flag and organise programmes on Republic Day at all Amrit Sarovars under their jurisdictions. The state has readied a total of 8,777 Amrit Sarovars.

Rural development commissioner JS Priyadarshi issued a circular last week to all district magistrates in this regard.
The Amrit Sarovar Mission is a nationwide programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April 2022. The water conservation scheme is aimed at developing and rejuvenating 75 water bodies in each district as part of the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (75 years of Independence).

All officials concerned of the rural development department have been asked to get the flag hoisted at Amrit Sarovars by a freedom fighter or one of their family members, padma awardees, or the oldest person in a respective gram panchayat. Public representatives, members of self-help groups, school children, women, youth and residents of respective gram panchayats should be invited to the event.
