Gujarat campaign: Yogi fires ‘against temple’ salvo at AAP, Cong
Adityanath claimed that BJP’s political rivals like AAP and Congress were against the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and Somnath temple in Gujarat
LUCKNOW Chief minister Yogi Adityanath was back in Gujarat on Saturday, where he peppered his election rally speeches with temple talk to take on BJP’s political rivals, accusing them of ignoring the views of the majority due to vote-bank concerns.

He slammed Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader, Arvind Kejriwal, who after winning Punjab, is now eyeing Gujarat as “a sample from Delhi who supports terrorism, suspects valour of India’s security” and described the Congress as a “corrupt” party.
In his three rallies in poll-bound Gujarat districts of Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar and Amraili, Adityanath claimed that BJP’s political rivals like AAP and Congress were against the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and Somnath temple in Gujarat. He also offered prayers at Somnath Temple.
“Jawaharlal Nehru was against the reconstruction of Somnath Temple for fear of losing Muslim vote bank. It was only because of a leader like Vallabhbhai Patel that the temple could be rebuilt and AAP was against the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya,” Yogi claimed in his election speeches.
“Those who can’t handle Delhi, what can they do in Gujarat? he quipped, targeting AAP. He claimed that the AAP’s Delhi government abandoned people during the Covid pandemic while UP ensured their treatment.
Congress and AAP can neither respect people’s faith, nor can provide, security, development and prosperity of the nation,” he said while urging people to reject their bid to unseat the BJP.
He added: “Corruption and supporting terrorism are in their genes,” Yogi Adityanath said while paying tribute to Hamirji Gohil for sacrificing his life for the reconstruction of the Somnath temple.
He said, “Under PM Modi, India’s global prestige has shot up. India is now the fifth-largest global economy, ahead of the United Kingdom (UK). India is also leading the G20, the group of 20 most powerful nations that control 80% of the world’s resources.”
Speaking at Amreli, Adityanath targeted Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. “The disappearance of the brother-sister duo of Congress from the campaign scene reveals their acceptance of defeat,” he claimed.
The UP CM said that PM Modi decided to celebrate November 26, the day of preparation of the final draft of the Constitution as ‘Constitution Day’ to make every citizen realize that rights and duties go hand in hand.
Paying tribute to Bhimrao Ambedkar, he alleged that the Congress did not pay due respect to either Ambedkar or Vallabhbhai Patel. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi got a huge statue of Vallabhbhai Patel built and also ensured development of five places associated with Babasaheb as Panch Teerth,” he said.
He said: “As the then CM of Gujarat, PM Modi ensured that riots and curfews stopped in Gujarat. When he became PM, he ensured that terror acts on Indian soil won’t be tolerated.”
