“If you are looking for authentic ODOP items of Uttar Pradesh, be it Kala Namak rice of Sidharth Nagar or the intricate wheat-stalk handicraft of Bahraich, jaggery of Ayodhya or musical instruments of Amroha. All this will be at your fingertips now wherever you are. You will need to visit the ODOPmart.com portal, or download the app which is available on both Android and iOS operating systems, find the product of your choice and place an order and it will be delivered to your residence in no time,” said a government spokesperson.

As the government gears up to double the export of MSME products from the state in the coming years, it has set its sights on promoting ODOP, one of the flagship projects of CM Yogi Adityanath. It is noteworthy that the state’s exports have increased from 88,000 crore to more than 1.5 lakh crore during the Yogi government’s tenure and ODOP has played a significant role in this, he said.

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Export Promotion additional chief secretary Navneet Sehgal, in a statement, on Monday said that the portal serves as an interface between consumers and artisans, wherein the latter will be able to sell their items directly to the consumers.

Sehgal added that the government has already tied up with e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon India to ensure seamless delivery of the items to the buyers on the one hand and promote ODOP products across the country and also globally.

He further informed that more and more artisans and ODOP producers in U.P. are getting registered with the e-commerce platform and also benefitting from it in as they can sell their products directly to the consumers. No middlemen are involved.

The objective behind the launch of the portal is to find national and global markets for specific products and crafts of Uttar Pradesh that are not found anywhere else and to make the products like the wooden craft of Chitrakoot, embroidery works known as chikankari of Lucknow and zari-zardozi of Bareilly and Badaun, hard bone crafts of Sambhal etc available to the people across the country and also overseas while conserving the traditional arts and crafts of the state and uplifting artisans and crafts persons involved in the trade.

The ‘ODOPmart.com’ portal has the list of selected ODOP products from all 75 districts of the state displayed along with complete information about them, including their history and merits. Thus, a consumer can simply select the product and the logistics company and place the order by paying the price online and the item will be delivered to him.

The products of all the artisans registered on the portal are also available on all the e-commerce sites such as Flipkart and Amazon India and will start appearing on the app, which is linked to the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). Artisans can sell their products online through ONDC and ODOP Mart at their fixed prices. For example, if one searches for sports goods on an e-commerce platform, he will find products of different companies displayed, including ODOP from Meerut.

Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to join the ONDC network, which has proved to be a boon for smaller artisans who are getting plenty of opportunities to grow their businesses through the online platform. Today, exports are on the rise from every district of the state.
