Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel on Sunday appealed to people to plant saplings, help them grow and also stressed on special lessons to children to make them love trees. Addressing a gathering on the conclusion of three-day flower, vegetable and fruit exhibition at Governor House, she stressed on the importance of trees, fruits and vegetables.

On the occasion, the governor also distributed prizes to winners under various categories. Superintendent (Udyan) of Raj Bhawan bagged the first prize. La Martiniere College got the second prize in personal category and a cash prize of ₹51,000.
In age category between four and nine years, Sanskrit Tandon, Yash Dixit and Pratishtha Gushiya among others bagged the first prize on decorative flower show. Around 889 prizes were awarded under various categories of flower, fruit and vegetable shows. Also present on the occasion, chief secretary Durga Shanker Mishra said more than one lakh people visited the exhibition.
Additional chief secretary to governor Mahesh Kumar Gupta, additional chief secretary (Udyan) MVS Rama Reddy, divisional commissioner Ranjan Kumar and director (Udyan) RK Tomar were prominent among others present on the occasion.
