Ragging on campus: Bundelkhand University expels 7 students from hostel

Action was taken on the basis of an inquiry report submitted by a panel that was formed to probe last month’s incident on the campus

Weeks after reportedly assaulting their juniors for opposing ragging, seven students of Bundelkhand University have been expelled from the varsity hostel. The action was taken on the basis of an inquiry report submitted by a panel that was formed to probe last month’s incident on the campus.

Registrar Vinay Kumar Singh said action was taken against 14 students and seven were issued warnings. “Six students won’t be allowed on campus for two months and eight would be barred from the premises for one month. Seven students have been expelled from the hostel,” he said

Students Ankit Singh, Zeeshan Ali, Nitish Singh, Vijay Rana, Prem Kumar and Jitin would not be allowed on campus for two months. Akhilesh Singh, Sachin Varma, Harshit Yadav, Pulkit Singh, Anurag Kharwal, Pranjal Jaiswal and Aryan Pundir were permanently banned from the hostel and even face a one-month ban from entering campus.

Strict warning was issued to Deepak Varma, Satvik, Kuldeep Singh, Abhay Dwivedi, Amit Kumar and Samta after they were indicted for spreading rumours and inciting violence on campus.
