Railway officials said 24 vendors in Lucknow have registered with the IRCTC’s e-catering facility and have been delivering food on trains.

“Through e-catering, food items will be made available to passengers in trains. The e-catering facility is a boon, especially on such trains that don’t have pantry cars,” said Ajit Kumar Sinha, chief regional manager, IRCTC.

“So far 24 vendors in Lucknow are registered with e-catering and delivering about 500 food items to train passengers. Five hundred food items are being delivered daily in Lucknow through e-catering,” he said.

“Services of Zomato, Swiggy will be taken to deliver food on train. IRCTC will give space on the website to small, big and famous vendors to sell food items. They can do business by getting registered,” Sinha added.

“IRCTC is registering vendors like Bajpayee Poori, Shukla’s Chaat, Prakash’s Kulfi, Tundey Kebabs, Wahid Biryani. We are creating a portal to connect them, a move through which both passenger and vendors would benefit,” he added.
