The accused made the call on Friday and was tracked using his phone to the Union Territory of Puducherry. A Mumbai police team went to Puducherry and arrested him, said Dixit Gedam, the deputy commissioner of Police (Zone 8).

The accused, Jatin Prajapati, is a YouTuber and native of Madhya Pradesh but had settled in Puducherry a few years ago.

Police officers said that the call appeared to be a mischief as Prajapati is a Class 12 dropout and is not linked to any criminal gang or terrorist group.

The police checked the accused’s YouTube channel and his other social media accounts and said that Prajapati’s friends told them that he was under depression after getting injured in an accident a few months ago.

“We are questioning the accused to find out more about the hoax call. We are also questioning him to find out whether he had been to Mumbai or Delhi,” said an officer.

The police have informed the man’s family about the case and the arrest.
