MUMBAI: A 22-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death on his birthday following a dispute over a party in Nalasopara East late on Tuesday. Police arrested the accused shortly after the incident.

The deceased, identified as Nitesh Mishra, was celebrating his birthday with friends at a restaurant when he received a call from Karan Kamble, 30, who wished him but allegedly also abused him and demanded a birthday treat. During the conversation, Kamble reportedly accused Mishra of being a miser.
Police said Mishra, angered by the remarks, left the restaurant and went to Kamble’s residence, about 30 minutes away. An argument broke out between the two outside the house and quickly escalated.
According to investigators, Kamble allegedly attacked Mishra with a knife during the confrontation. Mishra sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to a nearby civic hospital, where he was declared dead.
Officers reached the spot and detained Kamble, who was later arrested.
